Paul David Hewson is known by most as U2 frontman Bono, but the 64-year-old Irish musician is more than just a skilled vocalist and performer, known for hits like “With or Without You,” “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” and “Where the Streets Have No Name.” He, along with his wife Ali Hewson (who he married in 1982), share four children, each finding accomplishment in their own right.
In 2022, Bono released his memoir Surrender: 40 Songs, One Story. In an interview with The Irish Times, Bono commented on his family life, saying, “I got to spend a lot more time with my kids than most because when I am home, I am really home. When we were away because U2 had such good fortune, we could bring our children with us. So I don’t feel they lost as much as they could have, but they lost some of me and that is why I wrote the book,” he said of revealing himself within its pages. Eve Hewson
Although Eve Hewson (whose full name is Memphis Eve Sunny Day Iris Hewson) is the daughter of a renowned rockstar, she has been forging her own path in show business for years. The 33-year-old actress made her debut in various short films throughout the early 2000s, but in 2011, made her feature film debut in This Must Be the Place. Over the years, she could be seen in shows like The Knick, The Luminaries and Behind Her Eyes, as well as films like Robin Hood (2018) and Flora and Son (2023). Her most notable roles have come in recent years however, in Apple TV+’s Bad Sisters, which just released its second season, and Netflix’s The Perfect Couple.
Of her father’s influence on her career, Hewson told TODAY, “He’s all about it, just a huge, huge fan,” she said. “He’s always like, ‘So this is what you gotta do: You gotta call up this person, you gotta do this,’ and I’m like, ‘Oh my God, calm down.’”
Jordan Hewson
Bono’s eldest daughter Jordan has also been forging her own path for years. Studying political science and creative writing at Columbia University, the 35-year-old has founded her own tech company, Speakable, and she even made her way onto Forbes’ 30 Under 30 list. Though her career pursuits are far different than the showbiz realm that her father and other siblings have pursued, she’s certainly proved herself more than capable!
Elijah Hewson
Bono’s oldest son Elijah Hewson has certainly followed in his father’s footsteps. The 25-year-old musician leads the rock band Inhaler, which has risen to fame over the last several years thanks to songs like “My Honest Face,” “Cheer Up Baby,” “It Won’t Always Be Like This” and more—and the similarities between him and his father’s voices are hard to miss!
“We definitely knew that it was going to be a bit of a twist on our band that was maybe different to other bands but we never let it frighten us or steer us away,” Hewson told Louder of the potential “nepo baby” backlash he and his band would possibly receive. “We always knew what we’re going to do and we were going to deal with any kind of backlash that we would have had from that. I definitely wouldn’t have made a good architect or plumber or anything, the only thing I really feel like I have a connection to is music.”
John Hewson
Bono’s youngest son, John, at 23 years old, has largely kept out of the limelight, much different than his siblings. While his siblings will occasionally share a glimpse of him on their social media accounts, he maintains private social media accounts and doesn’t share much of his life to the public.
