If you loved The Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon, you might want to check out the new series in the franchise, Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage. This spinoff follows the lives of Georgie Cooper (Montana Jordan) and Mandy McAllister (Emily Osment), who are new parents and newlyweds. The series premiered on October 17 following the end of Young Sheldon back in May.
When the stars of Young Sheldon found out the show would be coming to an end, Osment and Jordan also learned they would be getting another show based on their characters’ lives specifically. Considering the couple just had a baby and tied the knot, this new series follows the difficulties of being first-time parents, getting married young and balancing that with growing up.
“It’s a lot of things coalescing at once — him becoming a father and him losing his own father and managing living in a new place — and it’s going to ask a lot of him and it’s going to show his real character, and Mandy is going to be right there with him supporting him,” Osment shared. “I love seeing the transition from little boy Season 1 of Young Sheldon to this family man that we’ve seen now and in Montana growing up right next to this character — It’s a really beautiful thing.”
Who’s in the cast of ‘Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage’?
Although this new series revolves around Georgie and Mandy, a few of your favorite characters from Young Sheldon might pop up now and then to offer some sage advice or just add a bit more to the story.
Throughout the series, you’ll see Meemaw (Annie Potts), Mary Cooper (Zoe Perry) and Missy Cooper (Raegan Revord) appear. You’ll also see Mandy’s parents, Audrey (Rachel Bay Jones) and Jim (Will Sasso), as Georgie and Mandy are living with them in this new phase of life.
What to expect from the spinoff series
Both stars have shared about the series and what you might expect as the episodes go on.
“[Audiences have] already seen all of the cracks — they got married really young,” Osment said. “She got pregnant really early, and they both lied about their age… It’s only up from here and I think that’s completely true.”
And although it’s been established that Georgie gets married more than once and the title suggests that this is just the first marriage, Jordan has told fans not to worry.
“The storyline is that Georgie gets married and divorced, like, two or three times. But we don’t know past that. We don’t know if it’s with Mandy or with somebody else,” Jordan said. “We have no idea. As an actor in the show, I have no idea. I don’t even know if the writers do. We’re all just going with the flow and seeing what people like.”
