A spin-off prequel to the sitcom The Big Bang Theory, Young Sheldon premiered in 2017 and followed genius-minded Sheldon Cooper from age 9 to 13 over seven seasons.

During its 141-episode run, the show became one of TV’s most-watched series when over 6 billion viewers tuned into Young Sheldon at the end of 2023.

According to The Big Bang Theory canon, Sheldon leaves home at age 14 to study at the California Institute of Technology.

“This is the right time for this story to come to an end, knowing that at 14, he goes off to Cal Tech. It felt like the right time to end it strong while it was on top,” executive producer Steve Holland told Deadline about the show’s conclusion.

The final episode of Young Sheldon depicts Sheldon walking onto the Caltech campus as he embarks on the next phase of his education and life.
