Trader Joe’s new limited-edition grocery tote goes viral
Trader Joe’s is following up the success of their mini tote bags, released in February, with a line of stand-up collapsable grocery totes that have taken the internet by storm.
TikTok user @_jessiechoi showed off her tote filled with eggs, boxes of rice and an assortment of other items neatly stored in the self-stabilized bag.
“It’s so good…so much fits in here,” she said about the stand-up collapsable grocery tote in her video.
“You’ve got places to go, people to see, and, more likely than not, stuff you’ve got to bring with you,” reads the description of the stand-up collapsable grocery tote on Trader Joe’s website. “That’s one reason why we’ve put so much effort into creating fun and functional reusable bags over the years.”
According to the website description, the tote can stand stable in car trunks, on bus floors and even in bicycle baskets. So, no matter how you shop, Trader Joe’s stand-up collapsable grocery tote is able to support your food haul.
Additionally, despite the helpfully rigid structure of the stand-up tote, it is fully collapsible making it easy to store.
The totes were crafted with more than only practicality in mind as each one is decorated with a “vibrant, colorful, eye-catching design.”
How can you get a Trader Joe’s stand-up collapsable grocery tote?
The Trader Joe’s stand-up collapsable grocery tote was crafted in Vietnam by an “expert Tote maker,” according to the company’s website.
If you want a tote of your own, they are available online and in-store for $3.99.
So far, the bag is available in one of two designs. One depicts a baby blue daytime sky adorned with an onion sun and the other comes in a midnight navy with a moon and produce planets.
The viral sensation of the Trader Joe’s mini totes
Trader Joe’s stand-up collapsable grocery tote isn’t the first viral reusable bag by the grocer, but it may be the more practical of its predecessors.
Earlier this year— first in February of this year and again in September—Trader Joe’s released miniature canvas tote bags.
These bags are downsized versions of Trader Joe’s classic tan canvas totes and they come in four accent colors: green, red, blue and yellow.
The miniature size of the bag, unlike the more spacious stand-up collapsable grocery tote, lends itself to Euro-style food shopping (smaller hauls and more frequent trips).
Folks went crazy for the mini canvas totes and though they originally sold for $2.99, the bags appeared on resale sites for upwards of 500 dollars, an almost 17,000% price markup.
