Meet ‘Can Daddy’—Lipton Hard Iced Tea’s towering 9-foot-tall groundhog, made from a whopping 6,000 cans of hard iced tea. The giant statue will make its way around Pennsylvania this weekend, giving fans a chance to snap a photo with the one-of-a-kind creation.
“Groundhog Day is the one time of year when everyone looks to the sun to see what it’s doing,” Adam Fries, Brand Manager at Lipton Hard Iced Tea told First for Women. “Since the sun is part of Lipton’s DNA, we wanted to have some fun with it—so we built something no one has ever seen before: a 9-foot-tall groundhog made entirely out of Lipton Hard Iced Tea cans. Because why not?”
Fries also shared that “the production process was no small feat.”
“It took over 150 hours, four dedicated builders, and more than 6,000 cans of Lipton Hard Iced Tea to bring our giant groundhog, named “Can Daddy,” to life. And in case you’re wondering, he’s 9 feet tall and a hefty 250 pounds. It’s safe to say this is the biggest, hardest groundhog the world has ever seen.”
Catch the magic in person from January 31 to February 1 at The Curry Hollow Shopping Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The journey will culminate in Indiana, Pennsylvania where ‘Can Daddy’ will take center stage at he corner of Maple St. & Willow Ave from 3 to 5 p.m.
