Kelsea Ballerini Cancels Concert Mid-Show Due to Illness

In the thick of cold and flu season, 31-year-old country musician Kelsea Ballerini proved that even superstars aren’t immune when the illness she had been fighting off forced her to stop her February 6 concert in Buffalo, NY after only a few songs. Ballerini was performing at the KeyBank Center on her Kelsea Ballerini Live Tour when she put a halt to the show. The tour, which kicked off in Grand Rapids, Michigan on January 21, had only been in motion for about three weeks until Ballerini grew ill.

After halting the concert, the singer took to her social media to explain herself and offer a solution to those in attendance. Buffalo, I am so, so sorry that I could not finish the show tonight,” she said on her Instagram story. “I am sicker than I am trying to be and I did not want to let anyone down tonight. I just got through the first few songs and I couldn’t do it. I’m so sorry, but I never want to give you a half a– show.”

Ballerini first shared with her fans that she was feeling under the weather at her show in Detroit earlier in the week. Though she performed the entire concert, fan videos revealed that she asked for the aid of the audience to help perform songs like “Penthouse.” Sick or not, the country songstress still killed it!

Before hitting the stage in Buffalo last night, Ballerini seemed to be on the mend based on a post shared to her Instagram story. “For those sweet angel humans asking, I’m feeling better. Got some good rest (WOW I FORGOT HOW MUCH I LOVE SLEEP) and the meds are doing their job and I can’t wait to perform for you tonight. My voice is still a little raspy, but we’re gonna lean in (like the Phoebe sexy voice) and I will see you on that stage. No way I’m letting you down.”

After her performance in Buffalo, Ballerini announced that she would be rescheduling the next few tour dates she had planned to ensure that she can proceed healthily and give the best possible performances she could give. “We are rescheduling tonight, Buffalo, tomorrow, Pittsburgh and the next day, Toronto, to the end of the tour, April 11th, 12th and 13th,” she shared to her Instagram. “I will make them the best shows I’ve ever played in my whole life and I will pull out every stop for you and I will make it so worth it.” She continued, “I’m gonna go rest now and get better so I can really show up for the rest of this tour and I hope you understand. Thank you for the grace to be human and I love you.”

Ballerini’s tour is set to resume on February 10 in Philadelphia at the Wells Fargo Center. Wishing her a speedy recovery!
