I Tried Stew Leonard’s Viral Christmas Cookie Milk: Here’s My Review

Milk and cookies is the sweet combo we all love, especially during the holidays, and grocery store chain Stew Leonard’s takes it to the next level with a staple seasonal offering: Christmas cookie milk. This milk looks just like regular milk, but it’s known for its sweet flavor that many compare to a sugar cookie. It’s a hit in stores and has gone viral for its festive flair. With so much fanfare surrounding this milk, I decided to try it to see if it lived up to the hype. Keep reading to learn more on Stew Leonard’s Christmas cookie milk along with my taste test.

What is Stew Leonard’s?

If you’re new to Stew Leonard’s, it’s a family-owned chain of stores with eight locations throughout New York, Connecticut and New Jersey. It’s known for its wide array of farm fresh produce, meats and dairy—which helped it earn the title of the “Disneyland of dairy stores” from the New York Times in 1983. Among these products, the Christmas cookie milk always emerges as a favorite that customers look forward to every year.

Why Stew Leonard’s Christmas cookie milk is a hit every season

The best way to describe the store’s Christmas cookie milk is a sugar cookie in milk form. This milk’s sugary taste is a draw to many who love indulging their sweet tooth. Hence why, customers flock to the store’s dairy aisle every holiday season in search of it.

Stew Leonard’s introduced their cookie milk in 2016, which uses milk that’s free of antibiotics and artificial growth hormones. The sweetened milk is a limited-time offering as it’s only sold in December in half gallon glass containers. While this drink is popular among customers, the store sells other seasonal milk specials, including Easter bunny milk for the spring and monster milk for Halloween.

My taste test of the festive cookie milk

After getting my hands on a bottle of Stew Leonard’s cookie milk, I didn’t hesitate to pour myself a glass and take the first sip. I immediately was met with milk’s sugary and creamy taste, which tasted like a cross between a sugar cookie and custard. I poured a small glass to sip on its own, and it was the right amount because the milk is quite rich. Beyond drinking it solo, I plan on experimenting with it in iced coffee and other homemade drinks as an additional way to flavor them. Overall, I understand the Stew Leonard’s cookie milk craze and will gladly be a part of it every Christmas season from now on.
