There’s nothing like tuning into one of your favorite throwback shows and catching a familiar face you didn’t quite remember even made an appearance, and this is something we often get to experience when we rewatch some of our favorite early 2000s series—for instance, One Tree Hill. Over the years, this popular teen drama featured famous musicians, actors and actresses bringing to life a wide array of characters. Do you remember catching any of these famous faces?
Pete Wentz
Bassist of the famed rock band Fall Out Boy, Pete Wentz made a surprising appearance in this series during the early 2000s. The musician played himself in the show and had a brief fling with the character of Peyton, played by Hilarie Burton. The Fall Out Boy bassist was even featured in a scene putting on eyeliner with his fellow co-stars—in true early 2000s emo fashion.
Joe Manganiello
Manganiello has earned his status as a certified Hollywood hunk over the years, from his work in the hit series True Blood to appearing in the Magic Mike films. However, some might remember his appearance in One Tree Hill as Owen, a bartender who dates Brooke, played by Sophia Bush, for a while.
Evan Peters
Throughout the 2010s, Evan Peters earned himself heartthrob status when he appeared in the spooky American Horror Story debut season as Tate Langdon. Years prior, however, he appeared in the sixth season of the show as a student living in Tree Hill.
James Van Der Beek
By the time One Tree Hill hit the airwaves, James Van Der Beek had already made a name for himself in the sphere of teen dramas in the leading role of the beloved Dawson’s Creek. In the wake of his hit series, the actor went on to appear in OTH as a film director who worked with Lucas to try and bring his novel to the screen.
Huey Lewis
Famed singer and songwriter Huey Lewis appeared in One Tree Hill as the father of Haley, played by Bethany Joy Lenz.
Nick Lachey
There were, oddly, countless real-life musicians who made appearances on One Tree Hill as themselves over the years, and Nick Lachey falls into that category. The lead singer of boy band 98 Degrees arrived on the scene of One Tree Hill and became romantically involved with Brooke for a short period. He also recorded one of the songs Haley wrote.
Gavin DeGraw
If any famous musician earned their right to an appearance on One Tree Hill, it’s Gavin DeGraw. After all, he’s the artist who brought to life the famed theme song, “I Don’t Want to Be.” During his appearance on the show, he performed the hit song at an open mic night after Peyton had a run-in with him and convinced him to come by.
