Delia Deetz might be dead, but that isn’t stopping her from becoming the hostess with the mostess. For the first time in history, the beloved artist is going to be letting her friends into her home to see both her art and the attic, which is rumored to be a portal to The Afterlife. Indeed, Airbnb has outdone itself with the launch of the Beetlejuice-themed house, complete with art by Delia Deetz and attic portals to the afterlife. All about the Airbnb Beetlejuice house
Announced on Wednesday, October 23, the Beetlejuice Airbnb is located in Hillsborough, New Jersey, and is part of the brand’s new Icons Program—allowing movie fans to stay in their favorite films’ most well-known locations.
The Beetlejuice Airbnb will open on November 16, and fans of the film will have the chance to spend 10 three-hour days inside the Deetz mansion alongside their five closest ghouls and goblin friends from then until November 27.
Sadly, though, visitors will not be able to spend the night because of some recent “spiritual difficulties” at the house, but that doesn’t mean your time there won’t be the best day of your (after)life.
What you’ll see inside Airbnb’s ‘haunted’ ‘Beetlejuice’ mansion
According to Airbnb, when you arrive at the house, you will be greeted by Delia’s “(after)lifelong assistant, who will usher you inside.”
Your host, Delia Deetz (played by Catherine O’Hara in the film), then says, “Hello, friends with a pulse. It is I, Delia Deetz, adoring wife to my horny handyman, Charles Deetz, and stepmother to America’s favorite little ghost whisperer, Lydia Deetz.”
“As you are no doubt familiar, my life was dedicated to creating marvelous wonders. And via these creations, my life itself became a marvelous wonder. I invite you to honor my legacy, unpack the art of fear, and maybe even run into a few ghoulish surprises along the way.”
From there, you will be able to wander and explore every creepy nook and cranny around the house, including the attic.
While in the attic, though, don’t be surprised if you stumble across the Maitlands’s model of the town Winter River, which is the one thing Delia claims she “did not redesign, and it shows.”
She does acknowledge her listing, though “The Maitlands’ model of Winter River is rather impressive even for my standards (although a bit dreary). You may also find the Handbook for the Recently Deceased up there. Don’t get any ideas.”
One thing we must warn you about the house, though, is if you say Beetlejuice’s name three times, some spooky things may happen to you, including ending up in The Afterlife’s Waiting Room.
“Once you get through the Waiting Room, you’ll find yourself in a disorienting hallway. Peek through the keyholes,” warns Airbnb. “Don’t open any doors unless you want to be eaten by sandworms or wind up in that demon’s favorite haunt, Dante’s Inferno.”
Thankfully, your time in The Afterlife is only temporary, and after you escape—without Beetlejuice—“Delia has arranged an unforgettable art class where you’ll unleash your collective fears.”
