With a name like Memphis Eve Sunnyday Hewson, it should come as no surprise that Eve Hewson was destined for fame. The daughter of Ali Hewson and Bono—yes, Bono—whose niche sector of Hollywood went noticed by some is now in the big leagues, and it isn’t because of her famous father. Eve Hewson’s acting journey: from supporting roles to leading lady
Over the last two years, Hewson became something of a household name. In 2022, she originated the role of Becka in Apple TV+’s Bad Sisters, which tells the story of a group of siblings tied up in the mysterious death of their abusive brother-in-law. This past fall, she made waves once again when she starred opposite Nicole Kidman, Liev Schreiber and Dakota Fanning in the Netflix mystery The Perfect Couple. Though these days she’s a face we know and love, for a while, she was quietly building her resume.
Over the years, she worked on her craft diligently, appearing in the music video for The Script’s hit song “For the First Time,” as well as countless films including This Must Be the Place (2011), Blood Ties (2013), Enough Said (2013), Bridge of Spies (2015) and series including The Knick and Behind Her Eyes.
“[My parents] were like, ‘Oh my god, this is what she wants to do.’ They just didn’t want me to move to Hollywood,” Hewson told Byrdie. “They didn’t want me to get caught up in the movie business. I mean, look at the music industry, at the movie industry—it is stark. There’s a lot of bad s— out there. They were concerned for their 15-year-old child that, all of a sudden, came home and was like: I want to be an actress. They were like, ‘Oh god, no. Please be an architect.’”
Though she defied their wishes for her future, the influence of her mom and dad runs deep.

Though Hewson has said she grew up with a relatively normal life despite her dad’s fame, living in a Dublin suburb and attending a regular school, she and her sister Jordan took full advantage of the opportunities they were given to join their father on the road—and what kid wouldn’t?
“Me and my sister ran that s—,” she told GQ of loving every minute. “All we had to do was tutoring for a few hours a day, and then we were like Eloise in every hotel, terrorising people–we milked it…we went to every gig, we met every celebrity.”
With that in mind, Eve finds that running from the “nepo baby” title does her more harm than good. “The only thing you can do is crack a joke and move on,” she told Porter.
As for what’s next for Eve, we’ll have to stay on the lookout for her next role, but we’re certain it’ll be as gripping as her most recent. “I love the idea of disappearing into a character and imagining that you aren’t yourself,” she told The Guardian. “I mean, who doesn’t want to take a break from their own head every now and then?”
