Thanksgiving 2024 Recap! • Kath Eats

Here’s a recap of our holiday weekend!

Thanksgiving is more fun under a chandelier!

Remember we didn’t have one in our “dining zone” before the renovation : ) This one dims and was perfect for mood lighting during our dinner. (It’s this Iron Lantern chandelier which is apparently no longer sold but this looks like the newer version.)

We had a nice Thanksgiving hosted at our house again this year. I’ve never been more thankful for our new kitchen than on this holiday when the counter space is maxed out!

Green smoothies + peloton to start the day

Cooking Time

I made my two favorite Thanksgiving dishes: cranberry sauce and sweet potato casserole. I love to put orange zest and a splash of bourbon in my cranberry sauce.

I used the Eating Bird Food recipe this year with a pecan crumble topping rather than marshmallows. I am a fan! I did use egg white, cow’s milk, and real butter isntead of the vegan options in the recipe. Turned out great.

Keep The Children Entertained

Get The Table Dressed

This Goddards Silver Dip was a LIFE SAVER for my tarnished silver! No scrubbing necessary – just dip and it comes out beautifully clean!

Get Myself Dressed!

I’ve worn this dress two years in a row because Thanksgiving is the day I most want to wear these colors! It’s SO comfortable and a great price on Amazon!

Pregame

Happy Hour!

Children’s Happy Hour

Sparkling cider and grape juice!

Chef Mazen!

Since Grammie was with my sister this year, Mazen had to make mac and cheese in her honor. He hand grated all the cheese – everyone was impressed.

Three Generations of Donnes!

As the sun set, we pulled the turkey out of the oven.

The only group pic we got!

Peaceful Pie

I waited until the whole kitchen was clean and tidy to have my pie in silence at the very end of the night.

Night night!

Black Friday

Chef Mazen was at it again making Kodiak cakes on Black Friday morning.

Topped with all the sugar!

Meanwhile, I had a cranberry sauce yogurt bowl! My favorite way to use cranberry sauce along with Cranberry Sauce Smoothies.

UVA Bball

Friday afternoon we went to the UVA basketball game. Go Hoos!

Unfortunately on Friday night I came down with a fever! I was SO COLD under my down comforter! No idea why. But that made for a very quiet rest of the weekend. Not sure what is was – perhaps the flu mitigated by my flu shot?

Hope you all had a wonderful holiday. The Christmas season is here!
