The Dreaming’s Samhain Retreat: a 5-day journey guided by ancient Celtic traditions at Charlotte Church’s spa, 28th October to 1st November
The latest spiritual retreat from Charlotte Church’s The Dreaming is the Samhain Retreat from 28th October to 1st November 2024.
Recently named “Wales Spa of the Year” in The Times and Sunday Times 50 Best UK Spas guide, The Dreaming is nestled in the spectacular surroundings of the Elan Valley in the heart of Wales.
Samhain Retreat visitors are invited to embark on a 5-day journey, walking in the footsteps of our ancestors, guided by the ancient Celtic traditions of Samhain. The first day of November was celebrated as Samhain by ancient Celts and was also believed to be a time when the ‘doorways’ to the Otherworld opened, allowing the souls of the dead to come into our world.
The Samhain Retreat
During the Samhain Retreat, The Dreaming invites guests to walk the path of our ancestors and engage in mindful rituals rooted in ancient Celtic wisdom. The activities are consciously curated to deepen guests’ connections with both Mother Earth and the spirit world, drawing on the expertise and wisdom of the teachers.
Kerry Sanson, the lead facilitator, draws on her deep knowledge of ancient traditions to guide guests through grounding and mindful practices that resonate deeply with the essence of Samhain.
Briony Greenhill, a renowned singer and musician, will lead a music session that harnesses the transformative power of sound, exploring themes of human depth and paradigm shifts. Indeed, throughout the retreat, guests will explore their creativity in a variety of immersive sessions, from the ancient art of spirit mask making to crafting nature mandalas, dancing at dawn in an invigorating silent disco, and hand-shaping earthenware.
Find profound meaning
These experiences are crafted to culminate in a powerful ceremony on the final night, inviting participants to embody the energies of Samhain, find profound meaning and deepen their connection to those who have gone before us.
Rachael, the End of Life Soul Doula, offers a lovingly held ceremony that delves into Samhain’s themes and transforms how we approach and feel about these aspects of life, through an uplifting circle and meditation.
All of this takes place in the mystical healing lands of The Dreaming, where the natural beauty of plunge pools, deep forests, cleansing waterfalls, and expansive grasslands call you to remember your true self and the interconnectedness of life.
Charlotte Church said: “Autumn marks a profound cycle of death and rebirth, inviting us to acknowledge what has ended and prepare for new beginnings. As the natural world turns inward, it’s the perfect time for the Samhain Retreat and becoming immersed in the rich traditions of Celtic and Welsh lore. The Dreaming invites guests to join us in walking the path of our ancestors, engaging in mindful rituals rooted in ancient Celtic wisdom and embracing the darkness, while also celebrating the light within. We are very much looking forward to hosting this retreat, meeting our guests and witnessing the impact this unique experience has on each of them.”
The Dreaming believes that no one should miss out on the opportunities to rest and recuperate because of money, so it offers a “Pay What You Can” space for one person at every weekday and weekend retreat. This means that no matter what you can afford per night, you can still access The Dreaming. Due to the high volume of applicants there is a waiting list, and recipients of the bursary are chosen at random.
From between £720 – £1800 for the entire retreat, visitors will experience the beautifully curated retreat programme, plus 4 nights’ luxury accommodation, including delicious, nourishing, home-cooked meals crafted by Head Chef, Zac, and featuring ingredients grown in The Dreaming’s own kitchen garden. Guests can also fully enjoy access to 47 acres of breathtaking ancient lands, including access to the natural plunge pools and waterfalls.
Spaces are filling up fast, but there is still time to book to experience this potentially life changing retreat: https://bookings.thedreaming.co.uk/en/product/saimhain-retreat
