October Edition • Kath Eats

Here’s a recap of life lately!

^^ It had been a while since I had some good ole whipped banana oatmeal with peanut butter!

Lately: The October Edition!

October has been filled with birthdays and skeletons and soccer and concerts. And as they say, I can’t believe the month is almost over.

Ray Lamontagne + Gregory Alan Isakov

Earlier this month Thomas and I went to see Ray Lamontagne at the Ting Pavilion. (Check out the reel I made with Ting here!) Gregory Alan Isakov co-headlined the show, and I have to say that I thought he was the performance of the night. His voice was sooooo smooth!

Benson Boone

Midway through the month I went with my friends Katie and Sean to see Benson Boone!!! The show was in Richmond, and I spent months debating if I wanted to get a ticket on Stubhub and go. Ticket prices dropped some two days before, and we bit the bullet and I am SO GLAD WE WENT! The show was incredible and Benson was even more magical in person than I could have predicted! (You probably know his song Beautiful Things, but I’ve been listening to all of his music all summer!)

Shagbark

Before the show, we had dinner at Shagbark. It was a really good dinner with oysters and fried green tomatoes and crispy salmon with lemony orzo!

Plus an amazing Old Fashioned!

Katie and I have birthdays two days apart so we celebrated together!

The show was at the Richmond Raceway, and we had GA / pit tickets. We stood the whole time, sang loudly with the crowd, and cheered every time Benson did a backflip across the stage!

He is only 22 and had me totally captivated with his voice!

Octoberfest

Back at the pavilion, Birch and I went to the downtown Halloween celebration.

Little Mandalorian.

More downtown fun!

Puzzlologists

My parents brought me this vintage Pez puzzle from my childhood (1992!). It was a fun one!!

And Birch has done this pirate puzzle no less than 100 times this week!

He’s also become quite the artist <3

Golfer

And this guy has become quite the golfer! I accompanied him on his weekend match and loved watching him play.

We only did 9 holes which was PLENTY! Golf should be 9 holes standard. We would save so much time!

Mom and Me

Thomas went on a fun friend trip to Charleston where they played all the golf they wanted! I convinced Birch to take a nap with me AND HE DID! What a snuggly guy.

I also surprised the boys with Insomnia Cookies!

And I made my crockpot chili that I ate all weekend with cornbread and pumpkin beer!

We also: got haircuts and enjoyed a block party with neighbors and the Farmacy food truck.

The best “adult quesadilla” there is – mushrooms, beans, peppers, kale, lots of cheese!

Kath Eats Real Food

I made this chicken stew in the crockpot as well after my friend Cindy told me about the recipe. A winner!

Hope you have a spooky 10.26 weekend!
