Lacey Chabert, often considered the Queen of Hallmark Christmas, is no stranger to the world of lovable holiday films. The actress has been in about 40 Hallmark movies in total, with nearly 10 of them Christmas-themed. But this year, Chabert has wandered over to Netflix to star in the Christmas flick, Hot Frosty, alongside Schitt’s Creek’s Dustin Milligan.
Chabert stars as Kathy in this adorable Christmas film, a widow who accidentally brings a snowman, Jack Snowman (Milligan) to life with a magical scarf. When Jack arrives in the real world, he has no concept of how to act, relationships or… clothing.
And while we all enjoy a cheesy romantic comedy, especially set during the magic of Christmas and the holidays, Hot Frosty certainly had some cringe-worthy moments we can’t forget about. If you haven’t had a chance to catch the flick just yet, these are some of the most hilarious and cringey moments from the Netflix picture.
1. The scene where Jack comes to life at the beginning of the movie
While everyone watching might have appreciated Milligan’s good looks in Hot Frosty, the scene when he first comes to life is hilariously cringeworthy. Jack’s innocence is obvious when he magically transforms from sculpted snow to a real human, wearing only the red scarf Kathy put around him. The hilarious scene is certainly an unexpected moment for your classic cheesy Christmas flick, but it adds a level of humor.
2. When Jack walks through the streets in just a scarf on his first night as a human
After being brought to life with only a scarf, Jack becomes human in very minimal clothing. He is hardly covered, so Jack breaks into a store to take some clothing, not aware that breaking and entering is a crime. But before he finds the clothes store, Jack is seemingly walking through the streets naked and is seen by a few passersby.
3. Sheriff Nate trying everything to catch Jack in a crime
You might recognize Sheriff Nate from (Craig Robinson) from his days on The Office, which only makes his scenes chasing down a human snowman even more hilarious. The Sheriff is so intent on catching the clothing store thief, despite his only crime being that he is a snowman (and he stole some clothing, which he confessed to).
4. When Jack starts to melt in the jail cell
So, this scene isn’t technically funny — it’s actually quite sad. But when Jack finally gets caught by Sheriff Nate and is put into a jail cell, he begins to melt because of the indoor heat. Of course, Jack is human at this point, so his melting is really just him sweating. But once the Sheriff lets him out after continuous begging from the townsfolk, it seems Jack is already gone. At this point, Kathy tries to save him but eventually is pulled away, leaving human-like Jack alone in the snow.
5. When Kathy tries to explain love to Jack
From the very beginning, it’s clear that Jack doesn’t quite have a grip on the gravities of words and human emotions, so when he tells Kathy that he loves her, she isn’t as thrilled as he expected. Kathy goes on to explain the power that saying “I love you” can have, and that you can’t just go around uttering those words. Although she means well, it’s utterly cringeworthy when she explains this to Jack, mostly because he means well, and you feel second-hand embarrassment.
